Celebrating 150 years of Pontypool RFC
The club has a long history within Welsh rugby and in 2018 celebrated 150 years since forming in 1868. To commemorate this momentous milestone, they asked us to revive their first-ever crest design from 1901. As well as create content to pay tribute to Pontypool RFC's rich history.Find out more about Pontypool RFC 👉
We brought the century-old crest back to life. The new logo launched across all digital channels, as well as embroidered onto the new kit and merchandise. To support the 150th-anniversary crest launch, we also produced an animated history timeline of the club. To launch the crest, we produced 3D teaser animations and a 3D render of the new season kit.
• 3D crest reveal video: +10k views and 350 engagements.
• Kit reveal: 6.5k views and 400 engagements.
• Pontypool history timeline: 6.7k views, 300 engagements.
The solution was looking to the old crest on treasured memorabilia to inspire the design for a modernised 150-year crest. Once it was brought back to life, this design was then rolled out across all digital channels as well as being embroidered onto the new kit and merchandise.
The brand refresh was launched by building a 3D render of the crest and new kit to unveil the exciting transformation to fans, as well as creating a historical timeline to celebrate what makes Pontypool the club that it is today.
“We're so incredibly proud of our history here at Pooler and as the club’s 150th anniversary drew ever-closer, there was no better way to pay homage to the past than to bring back a true icon of Pontypool rugby. So many people have played their part in establishing Pontypool RFC as one of the great clubs in Welsh rugby history and because of this, the re-introduction of the original crest as a celebration of the positive impact the club has made throughout the last 150 years.”Ben Jeffreys / Chief Executive Officer / Pontypool RFC

There’s a rustle in the Welsh woods that has been whispered about for generations. They believe it to be Blue. They say it’s not sasquatch, but Stag. All that’s been spotted is the odd antler in the overgrowth or hoofprint on the forest floor.
We’ve taken matters into our own hands and set up a series of cameras to try and locate Seb the Stag for ourselves. Brave visitor, can you help us in our quest to unravel the mystery and marvel at the myth?Launch forest cam
