Young Creative Writer Placement

👈See all open positions

Blue Stag is a creative studio based in Cardiff, South Wales. As part of The Takeaway initiative, we’re on the hunt for a young creative writer to join us on a short-term placement.

If you’re a creative writer aged 18-21 and living in Wales, we want to hear from you!

About The Takeaway

The Takeaway is an initiative run by Blue Stag to help give young people in Wales an opportunity in the creative industry. It allows you to gain valuable experience through work placements and creative projects that help make a difference.

Each Takeaway project presents a unique opportunity to apply your creative skills against a real, paid client brief.

This time, we’re looking for a young creative writer to help us produce a script for a social media campaign video.

This isn’t just any project – it’s one that could really make a difference in our communities. Your words will be at the heart of it.

Your mission

As part of the next phase of the #NotTheOne campaign, we want you to help us write a script for a social media video. The video will illustrate how carrying a knife can lead you into situations you can’t control, and challenge the thinking of young people in Wales who are considering picking up a knife.

About you

  • You’ll be between 18 and 21 years old and living in Wales.
  • You’ll have a passion for writing – any kind, whether it’s stories, blogs, poetry, or something totally different.
  • You’ll be ready to jump in and learn new things, no matter your level of experience

What you’ll be doing

  • Joining creative sessions to come up with ideas.
  • Collaborating with our Head of Marketing to write a script for the #NotTheOne campaign video.
  • Providing feedback on the production of the video to help us shape the creative outcome.
  • Learning from mentors about how to make your ideas work in a real-world project.

How to get in

  • Tell us about you: Fill out a quick form with some basic info and a bit about why you love writing.
  • Meet us: If we think you’re a good fit, we’ll have a chat to get to know you better and talk about the project.

Why apply?

  • Opportunity for a paid placement.
  • Get real-life experience in a creative studio.
  • Work on a project with the power to change lives in our communities.
  • Have fun, learn loads, and maybe discover what you want to do in the future!

There’s a rustle in the Welsh woods that has been whispered about for generations. They believe it to be Blue. They say it’s not sasquatch, but Stag. All that’s been spotted is the odd antler in the overgrowth or hoofprint on the forest floor.

We’ve taken matters into our own hands and set up a series of cameras to try and locate Seb the Stag for ourselves. Brave visitor, can you help us in our quest to unravel the mystery and marvel at the myth?
